I hope to make a good cast boolit plinker from the rifle, Thanks for your help.įorgot to add, the front sight is dovetailed. Where can I find good instruction for taking the rifle down and giving it a good deep cleaning, the trigger well is full of dust, I assume from this the innards need a good cleaning. Behind the trigger guard on the stock wrist is 34 G R and a cartouche with two unreadable letters/numbers or combination of those. The rifle does not have a magazine (Know a source? Is the ProMag a decent option?) The stock has been varnished at some point, I would think that should be an oil finish. The barrel appears in remarkably good condition with well defined rifling from throat to muzzle. The sight is a peep which elevates and is stamped CMk 3 The right side of the muzzle just forward of the bayonet lug is stamped CAI ST. The left side of the receiver is stamped No 4 MK with an A in an oval near the receiver/barrel ring. The receiver/stock "ring" beneath the firing pin is stamped B O (with a chevron beneath the O) then M1944 beneath that with the serial number beneath that. The bolt and receiver are matching parts numbers, a five digit serial.
